Following are the qualifications for a certain post in a reputed company.
The candidate must –
(A) be an Engineering graduate with at least 60% marks
(B) be not less than 21 years and not more than 25 years of age as on 1.5.2006;
(C) have passed the selection test with at least 55% marks;
(D) be willing to pay a deposit of ₹50,000, to be refunded on completion of training
However, if a candidate fulfills the above-mentioned criteria except:
(i) at (A) above, but has appeared for the last semester examination and has obtained an aggregate a minimum 65% marks in first seven semesters, his/her case may be referred to the V.P. of the company;
(ii) at (d) above, but is willing to pay an amount of at least ₹25,000 and has obtained at least 70% marks at engineering degree, the case may be referred to the General Manager of the company
In each of the following questions, details of the candidate are given as regards his/her candidature. You have to read the information provided and decide his/her status based on the conditions given above and the information provided. You are not to assume anything other than the information provided in each of the following questions. All these cases are given to you as on 1.5.2006.
a, If the candidate is to be selected;

d. If the data provided is not adequate to take a decision;
e. If the candidate is not to be selected.
Q1. Natasha is an IT engineer passed out in 2003 with 52% marks. After getting the engineering degree, she has done MBA with specialization in Finance. She has cleared the selection test with 60% marks. She can pay the deposit of ₹50,000. Her date of birth is 15th September 1982.
Q2. Sulekh has passed Computer Engineering degree with 68% marks in 2005 at the age of 22 years and is working with private engineering firm since last six months. He has cleared the selection test with 63% marks. He will manage to pay ₹50,000 as the deposit
Q3. Rajan has appeared for the last semester of Engineering degree exam and is hoping to score at least 70% marks. His aggregate score up to first seven semesters is 72%. He has just completed 21 years of age. He has scored 63% marks in the selection test and is ready to pay the amount of ₹50,000 as the deposit.
Q4. Kanak has passed out Chemical Engineering Degree in June 2005 with 74% marks. She appeared for the selection test which she cleared with 72% marks. her date of birth is 26.8.1983. She is not in a position to pay ₹50,000 but will arrange to pay ₹30,000 as the deposit.
Q5. Deepesh has appeared for the last semester examination of Mechanical Engineering and the results are awaited. He secured first class in each of the first seven semesters. He has recently completed 22 years of age. He has no problem in paying the required amount of ₹50,000 as the deposit. he has passed the selection test with 58% marks.
Q6. Lalit is an Electronics Engineer passed out in 2004 with 66% marks. He has passed the selection test with 59% marks and is willing to pay the required amount of deposit.
Q7. Nitin, who has just completed 23 years of age, passed out the degree in Civil Engineering with 70% marks. He has cleared the selection test with 61% marks. He is willing to pay the amount of ₹25,000 only and will not be able to pay ₹50,000
Q8. Siddhartha is an engineering graduate with 75% marks at degree level. His date of birth is 16.4.1982. He has obtained 66% marks in selection test and is ready to pay 50% of the required amount of deposit at the time of selection and the remaining amount subsequently.
Q9. Mayank is an electrical engineer, who passed out his degree exam in 2003 at the age of 21years. He obtained 66% marks at degree exam and 56% marks in the selection test. He can pay the amount of ₹50,000 as the deposit.
Q10. Rohit is a student of Mechanical Engineering and has appeared for the last semester examination. Results if the last semester examination are expected next month. He is expecting to score 65% marks in the last semester as his aggregate percentage of the first seven semesters is 67%. He has passed the selection test with 60% marks and has no problem in paying the amount of ₹50,000 as deposit. He is 22 years old at present.
